I really like datnoids and would like one or a trio of them in my 150 gallon aquarium. One of my favorite species is the NTT (Thin-Bar) datnoid. I def want one of them. Another datnoid that has caught my interest is the Silver (AT) datnoid. The thing is though my research says they are brackish water and found in the wild swimming through and living mostly in brackish and occasionally enter freshwater. Can AT datnoids live and thrive in freshwater? If so, can 2 ntt datnoids and 2 silvers coexist in a 150?
I know they grow to a good size but they are slow growers. Any additional info is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't have personal experience with AT, but I believe some folks do keep them in freshwater. I did have a 13"NTT in a 4x2x2. I think those four dats would work for several years in a 150, but ultimately would be a bit crowded in the long run.

There has been much debate as to whether or not silver dats should be kept in brackish or freshwater but most people here(myself included) who have kept them had them in fresh water. There is a shop in my area that has had one in their freshwater plant tank for a few years now.One other thing to consider is that silvers tend to be more active than IT,and NTT dats.

Yea, it would probably take a long time for them to grow to be too big. I can't wait to get them.

Thank you Krich, once again you come through. So I'll the silver out and about swimming. I just remembered after looking through my Facebook photo galleries I had kept a Silver datnoid with NTT datnoids and 1 indo. So I am quite confident, it will do ok in my tank. I'm going to grab some dats from Jeff Rapps.
