So my biggest datnoid is breathing heavily, right underneath the mouth/gill area is pink. He is also constantly scratching himself against the driftwood. He is however still eating very good. Its not the side gill area, but right underneath the gill area that is pink. All my datnoids seem to be breathing hard, but only my biggest datnoid has the pinkish area under the gill area. Gill flukes? If so then I would probably use prazipro

Worth a shot. Flukes are very common with dats. I use coppersafe.

Isn't coppersafe for external parasites? Also could it be ich, even though I don't see any white spots? I have clown loaches with the datnoids, but the clown loaches are perfectly fine.

Flukes are external parasites;)
The heavy breathing is a good sign of flukes.
If you have CL's you can always use half dose but I think they will be fine with a full dose.

Edit... Should gradually add the meds over a period of 4 days(25% daily).

Please keep me updated I have had this happen to me a few times and each time I lost my Dat.
I once tried the Praziquantal in a tablet form and crushed it up, when I released it into the tank my dat went straight to the surface and its breathing got worse and seemed like it sped up the process to death.
One fella treated with maracyn2 and had a bit of luck but unfortunately I couldnt get my hands on this product.

Here a few threads I started when I had problems that might help you out.
