I know I am worrying way too soon but my 1st Dat who is 8" has stopped eating. I have had him going on 2 years now. I have starved him for up to 5 weeks trying to pellet train him (with little success) and he ate as recently as Sunday. The only reason I am concerned is because he ALWAYS eats when I offer shrimp or FD krill. He barely looks at them. Water is same as always. Is it common for them to strike occasionally? The only thing that is unusual, is he isn't being as active, but is hovering in the front of the tank, not hiding. The lil 3" dats are doing fine.
Thanks
Rodger

from my experience i've had tigers that have gone on hunger strikes....I once had one that didn't eat for 7 weeks...then all of a sudden went back to normal...only thing you can do, other than keeping tabs and making sure it doesn't have any illness, parasite, etc., is to keep the water quality good and keep offering food. Sometimes they're just stubborn.

Thanks, I was hoping that was the case. He is more stubborn then me. He went 5 weeks without eating, except for ONE pellet. I am the one who caved, not him.

Oddly enough I have a tank full of growouts that seem to be having a strike of their own,but they are not dats.

Try to not feed anything in the tank for a week, wc and keep water clean then try again after a week.

Saturday morning is the traditional waterchange day at my house! :nilly:
