Datnoid ID help

Hi Guys

I bought 3 Datnoids about 3 weeks ago. I've been trying to get hold of dats for over 3 years and finally got them, when they finally arrived... after ordering ST i received 3 silver looking Dats. They are true dats thats for sure, however I've been reading on how to spot the difference and attempting to identifying the ones i have. I'll load picture of them soon...but i must say its not going to be easy to get a good picture as they are quite fast and only about 3cm is size....so my question is.... the guy that arranged them for me, told me that they are going to turn orange/yellowish as they get bigger...is this the case? are some species born without their orange? and get it at a later stage?

I've been looking at the tail section trying to identify what datnoids i have...it has 2 strips on the tail. i tried seeing if the last strip is split in 2...but its hard to see...it might be or might not .....but surely not apart as to how it look on other pictures I've seen. thus the confusion :confused:

Can anyone help me.....as Soon as i get home ill take some picture and upload it.
 
It sounds as if you might have silver dats,also known as American Tigers.To be sure,take a look at the identification threads at the top of the main datnoid page.
 
Thanks for you reply...however my datnoid does not have the smaller line between the bars....does that make a difference.

Ill load those images a bit later today that way you can give me your opinion based on that.

Also do you have any idea of who can ship Datnoids to South Africa...looking for someone. where on the site can i have a look?

It could as the silvers usually have the bar on their tail that looks like two spots so we'll see and hopefully this does not start a whole new and tiresome derailing debate lol!.....I have no idea who could ship dats to your location,your best bet would probably be to check with whomever you got your current dats from.
