datnoid in a pair?

is it ok to keep 2 1.5 inches indo datnoids in the same 55 gallon tank?
and what kind of stuff can i feed them?

like do i just straight not feed them for 4 days then on the 5th day drop in some pellets and see what happens?

dont starve them until theyre atleast 4" and the starving method works by making them so hungry they eat anything that looks like food and then they eat a pellet and go "hmmm this isnt that bad actually" and then they eat pellets from there onward
