im not really familiar with datnoids but i was wondering if it would be ok to throw in dats in the same tank with frontosa. i know that the frontosa;s are aggressive type but it was doing well with my flowerhorns. by the way still small in size about inch and a quarter. any suggestion? opinions would be greatly appreciate it

Its not really a good idea, because some AGGRESSIVE datnoid like the "NGT" (New Guinea Tiger) don't like fish with strips and they will punk your frontosa

If your datnoids are too small, they will get punk by your frontosa

:(

Should be fine. I have 9 Tigers (all different sizes) in a tank with 4 smallish frontosas abput 3 to 4 inch. Fronts are generally, quite a peaceful for big cihclid, especially if you got loads of other fish in tank to distract them. Similar to tigers, more numbers, less fighting. Neither any of my tigers or fronts EVER bothered each other (though its only been 2 weeks). A bLue Jack Dempsey in there too & No problems.

Eventually though, fronts like tigers get quite big. and when over 10 inches, not sure how they would react to the other fish/tigers.

I also have lots of dither fish, (which tends to aleviate any aggression) Banded Myleas, flagtail, archers.

went to a lfs today asked the lady and she said it was fine. but my concern is when they get bigger. i think ill be getting rid of either one of them to prevent any handicapped fish. had my female flowerhorn get both her eyes ripped out by a male flowerhorn. i guess they were trying to mate but i didnt catch it.

ive had my frontosa's in the same tank as the flowerhorns and for some reason they got along pretty fine. but i still have to be cautious. dont wanna loose and expensive fish.

If the frontosa is bigger, I would say its fine because fronts have the "kissing" type of mouth and it doesn't do much damage to the datnoids fins. Its the other way round if the front is smaller. It will get bunch of torn fins for sure.

should be ok wit no problem..lets us see some pic when u put them in the tank rite thanks...

if i can find dats that are the same size as my fronts it would be great. my frontosa is about inch and a half and the other one is about a inch. im gonna pick up a 4-5 inch dat hopefully it will be ok. my frontosa's are very mild tempered compared to other frontosa. i threw them in with my flowerhorn and they were doing fine. yea once i get it in. ill post some pictures hopefully i dont get a handicapped fish by the time i take the photo. :)

A 5" Dat will eat a 1" Front

i have to remeasure my frontosa, it was just a estimate on how big i think it was. it might be alittle bigger. either way ill have to see. if it start pecking at each other im gonna have to throw the frontosa back in the flowerhorn tank. until it gets bigger.
