The night before I noticed a red dark spot about size of 10 cent coin on the body, suspected he may have been injured in a fight so I let him be.

He started swimming at the top of the tank but still looks ok

Next morning I saw him swimming erratically and in circles.

Took him out of the tank and set up a QT for him. Noticed he was still swimming in circles, very obvious he has movement only on 1 side of his body though both side fins are moving.

Also noticed 1 side of his body was red internally, I suspect internal bleeding

Last night he laid on his side, tired out I guess, but his body was arched upwards. This morning still the same

Not sure if he will make it but I am doing WC daily.

All other fishes are still in the original tank and eating well. last WC was on Wed, 80-90% change as per normal schedule , 180 gallon tank. Incident happened on Friday night

That looks like some kind of funky infection rather than an injury.....one that I have never seen before. What are it's tankmates?

3 x red devils, 4 other Indo tiger, 1 arowana, 1 florida gar and 2 endi bichir

not sure if i want try medicate as i do not like to medicate when i do not know the real reason.

This was taken on sat, as of yesterday the blotches has cleared up but one side is very red... can see the redness is from inside the body rather than on the outside

How about adding some salt then to aid with osmoregulation and helping to prevent secondary infections?

i did add salt the first time round but i noticed he seems very uncomfortable with it... and about 8 hours later i noticed a lot of bubbles at the surface so i did another 90% WC without adding salt.. and now doing daily 90% WC.. the water seems a bit yellowish, not sure if it is due to the blood.

Also noticed bubbles in 1 of the eye

This was taken on Sat too... this morning he is still resting at the bottom on his side... still breathing but very weak

Salt will cause it to foam at the surface. If he’s breathing heavy, a bit of salt should help but you know best since you’re monitoring the fish. Lots of WC will help bacteria levels in water low. Good luck!

Thanks.. maybe i will add some... doing daily WC now... hopefully he recovers..
