I have seen datnoids around being kept with archers, I have an archer tank set up now and wanted to possibly add a, or some datnoids. I don't know too much about them except what i've ran across in the forums. Are there any brackish species? (i would assume so since i've seen them in brackish tanks.) I know they grow slow but how big do they typically get, and will they get along with archers, scats, and columbian catsharks?

AT and NGT are "brackish" and are typically the most aggressive dats. I can't remember max sizes, but you should be able to search for that. I know some people have archers and scats in freshwater, but you can't keep the "sharks" in fresh.

As said above, AT's and NGT's are found in brackish conditions in the wild. IT's, ST's, and NTT's are all fresh water.

AT can get to about 1'
NGT can get a couple inches larger and is commonly thought of as the most aggressive species of Dat. Very hard to keep multiple NGT's together.

Thanks guys I appreciate the info. What do the acronyms stand for though? Also i've read that they prefer to be solitary but have seen them kept in groups, so which is it?

Well i found out what they stand for (guess I should have taken a minute to look but was still wondering about numbers?

Multiples are OK, but typically you will always have an alpha Tiger. NGT's aren't afraid to try to establish this position even with larger Tigers and can be ruthless. If kept with a MUCH larger dat, the NGT will show alot less agression IME.

Dats and archers do great together. I highly recommend it. But I alos keep all mine in full fresh. If anything I add a tablespoon of salt per 10g. Heres some pics of mines
