in my opinion. dats are all big bully. as long as they got some smaller fish to bully on, their colour will impove. so by doing so... i used to feed them feeder fish once a week. and another thing which i notice in my tank is, my dats are more stable in a tank without any background rather than in a tank covered in oyama paper.

Agreed. Get more fish... may bring out the dat's colors because it feels threatened by them and may have to compete! GL!
