Hey I'm new to dat's but my lfs has a NTT 3'' but they can get any Dat with in reason they said? My question is can datnoids get along with african pike or will they attack and harass them? My african pike are 5'' but I know the dats will get bigger when they are both full grown. I have a 300 gal 8' tank with bichirs and a irwini. also how many dats could I get and what species do you recommend.

i don't know about agression towards the dat (wait for an expert on that) but depends on what you're feeding them, i'd be worried about the dat not getting any food. most african pike are brutal eaters and most dats are relativly slow and skeptical feeders, i'd make sure the dat gets food.

Imo I think it is the other way around. My dats are ferocious eaters they attack the shrimp and pellets like no other. The pike on the other hand would seem to be a little bit skeptical.
I'm not worried about the feeding because i monitor that, I'm worried about the dats picking on the pikes that rarely swim they just hover until feeding

Most dats stick to themselves and bicker amongst themselves. Very seldomly you see them go after a fish out of their species.

My 13"IT bullys my 21" rtg and he is not known for being soft lol
Id say it would be ok,ive got a 6" NTT in with a 4" blochead and a 7" senegal and hes the shyest and most placid out of all of em.

well I'm getting a NTT and maybe a couple more but I'm going to stick with them because to me they look the best, hopefully they don't pick on my fish or they are GONE, so hope it works
