Ok I NOW have a brown algae problem in my 90gal. I've tried lots of water changes to remove the diatoms, seems to not help. But the Dat enjoys it. I can't afford to buy expensive lighting to wipe it out, and I think it may be coming directly from my tap water.

But my Dat question is this. If I have a 9" Dat and if buy the biggest Algea eater I can find, prolly around 3" do you guys think the Dat will eat him? And if so would it hurt the Dat if he digested the Algae Eater?

I would get some dithers, and introduce them at once... Giant Danios, Red Hooks, and get some siamese flying fox, they may do the job...Wish i could help more.. but i would DEF recommend some dithers..

I recently added a single 4.5" flagtail to my 750g and he has already cleaned the entire back wall of brown algae (25 sq feet!) and is now working on the rocks.

Agreed flagtails are great at taking care of algae, and look good with Dats too. just put a 8 incher in my 265 Dat tank.

Sorry dunno what a Dither or Flagtail is? Whats the full name so I can google it?

S. Prochilodus i believe is the scientific name. there are generally 2 varieties. the silver and the flagtail. flagtails have brightly colored orange tail and dorsal fins. the silvers only have bright orange pectoral fins. they are great fish.
