I'm looking at setting up a 75 gallon tank in the next couple of months, and was debating between an oscar or a datnoid. I'm probably going to put my featherfin synodontis in there with whatever fish I end up getting. Is there a datnoid that stays small enough to stay in that tank with one other fish, or possibly a few dither fish? I would like to avoid buying another HUGE tank int he future if I can. Also, are the water parameters too different for these fish?

Thanks in advance!

Dats can get 12" to 16" depending on which type. They grow very slow. Keeping one would be fine. But either keep one or 6 (speads the aggression).

Would one get along with the catfish though?

Dats are pretty chill with other fish. So it should be fine depending on the size of the fish. Dats grow slow...really really slow.

Would the catfish ( maybe 8-10" when adult) and the dat (maybe 12" when adult? ) be okay with 2-3 silver dollars? Or would that be overstocked? By the way I'm thinking about how big the fish will be once they are "grown up."

Dats length is actually between 12 and 24 depending on species. Assuming you arent getting the largest species of Dat then a Synodontis Eupterus will do fine. I actually keep that combo.:D

Unfortunetly I do not know enough about silver dollars to know if adding those will over stock your tank (not sure how big they get). But I would guess you would be ok with enough filtration.
