I have owned my young Datnoid sold to me as a siamese tiger fish for a month.

I have him in a planted Trigon 190.

Could he live with a group of Discus?

At the moment he lives with an Adonis Plec.

I only ask as i have no idea on his eventual temperment.

All the fish are going in an 8 foot tank eventually.

i'd say it will work..

Are they all aggressive?

Oscars deserve it sometimes, my old oscar was a bully at 14" he bullied my 10" Jaguar Cichlid and then it kicked the crap out of him lol

Was yours maybe acting up???

I really dont want to spend money on these Discus and then end up with them all being killed.

have you got any pics? - i doubt it is an ST very much as they are very hard to come by these days if not impossible!

I just can't see a dat messing up a discus.. In my experience dats go for a fish they recon a threat, not peaceful fish.. and grow at a faster rate than discus? I really want your feeding and wc schedule to help me achieve fast growing, bruising dats! :D (no, I'm not sarcastic)

dats aren't killers, sure they mess up cichlids and fish that challenge them but since they aren't very protective of their food, they don't try to eat tankmates of a similar size etc I can see dats as one of the big preds that just may work..

I see the dat finding a spot that he will push the discus away from, he will be first on the food but other than that I'd say your'e fine!

Discus grow way much faster than datnoids, given the discus aren't stunted. I personally wouldn't do. IME the datnoids mess with new fish, then after a while they don't give a damn. When my black arowana first met my datnoids, the datnoids rip and tore the arowana's fins. Now the datnoids are use to the arowana and both live peacefully. When I introduce my flagtail the datnoids rip and peck at the flagtail. Now the two fishes live happily with each other. But hey it's your fish, you have to make the decision.

And also, the datnoids seem to peck directly at the eye. They actually aim at the eye when they peck.
