would this work? any future problems or things to look out for? any requirements? any comments or witnesses about this working out?

thanks. Look forward to hearing from you guys. Cheers MFK!

Thats probably not the best idea. Dats can be agressive feeders while discus are at the other end of the spectrum. I think the datnoids would end up stressing the discus out.

:iagree:

it also required different ph level.

cool.. thanks for the input guys.

but ph is off? ive seen arowanas with discus and arowanas with datnoids. y not datnoid with discus?

Oh well, Ill prolly just save the discus for a different tank set up

Totally :iagree: It's like two ends of the stick, one is aggro, one is mellow. Dats will stress the discus out, and pollute the water... Not a good idea :grinno: :grinno: :grinno: BTW, I know someone put arowana with discus, and the discus all stress out, stay in one corner. They didn't last very long, cuz they got sick due to stress, and everything went down the drain from that point.

Actually, I keep my NGT with my Golden Dragon Discus with no problem at all. My discus pretty much runs the tank (Had the discus 2 years before I got my dat). You may find that the dats are more aggressive with the food but my discus gets his share. My discus is 5-6inches in diameter though and my dat is around the same size (in length but obviously not circumference). My dat likes to chill under a log while the discus stay out...mid to the top of the tank...Until feeding time that is. I do regular water changes and have no problem with ph levels. Neither of my fish are stressed or anything of that nature. Just my two cents:)

My dat scared the **** out of my discus..he attacked them several times a day.. everytime they swom past him they hung horizontally to keep an eye on the dat... this was to much stress for them.. so i sold all my discus :)

I would also like to mention that this is the Discus who grew up with my rays so he was never afraid of anything and consequently holds his own and runs the tank. Come to think of it, he is the toughest discus I've ever seen. He is a special case so I might actually advise against mixing the two...But I tried it and it somehow worked for me...Lucky me:naughty:
