I had mine with bichirs before with no problems.Hello. I'm setting up a new 125 gallon tank. The demensions are 72" L x 22" w x 24" h. I'm thinking of getting datnoids. How many should I get and could they go with oscars? And with bichirs?
My oscars are like 2 inches and I have a 9 inch ornate and a 14 inch Delhezi.A lot of people say do not put Birchirs with Oscars. Oscars will eat anything that will fit in their mouth. A 12 inch Bichir will still fit in a 6 inch oscars mouth as they are so skinny.
I sadly learned this the hard way.
The oscars are like almost 2 inches the dats are between 2-3 is that okay?I had mine with bichirs before with no problems.
How big are you planing to get in dats, bichirs, and Oscars
Oscars grow a lot faster than datnoids do if you want to put oscars with them I would say get the datnoids first and let them grow to a decent size to where the oscars can't eat them and by the time the oscars catch up to the datnoids size they will be perfectly fine with each other if it was well oriented and they are well fed I don't think there will be any problems I've had oscars several times and all types of oscars and I've never had an aggression problem with oscars especially with fish the same size as them but if you want to be real safe I think it'll be better to get a different tank mate for the datnoids btw bichirs will be fine with themHello. I just got the dats. They're tiny like not even an inch. I have a 20 gallon tank that they will grow out in until they are big enough. And sadly I already have my oscars. Biggest one is like 2 1/2 inchesThe Oscars will outgrow the dats, but I had a 6" dat kick the crap out of a 9" Oscar that got too big for his boots. But at smaller sizes dats can be fragile. Maybe best to let them get to 5"+ before adding Oscars, dats grow fairly quickly until about 8/9" then slow down
Damn unfortunately it's going to take forever until you get to put them together that's just how they are I'm looking for some datnoids myself to put with my baby golden clown knife and tiger shovelnose and arowana in my 210 I believe if you feed the datnoids lots of nutrient filled foods you will definitely have them grow a bit faster than the normI just got the dats.
