Hi, I have a large Datnoid, about 11" or so, with what looks like a small white worm protruding out of the side of the face.

Is it probable that this is anchor worm, or could it be something else? Thank you very much.

Sorry, I tried taking pics but they all came out blurry.

It now appears as the protrusion is gone as the Datnoid scratched that area against the filter intakes in the tank.

This has to be some kind of parasite I'm thinking?

sounds like an anchor worm but hard to say without picks, i had a tire track eel one time that actually had a hook come out of his side. I couldnt believe it he had a bump on his side that continued to get bigger and turned red with a white thing sticking out. i figured it was a worm or something like that and it turned out the be a HOOK. it was disgusting he was swimming and snagged the hook on a rock and pulled it out...i had no clue where the hook could have come from but he healed 100%. add salt it can help to heal the wound

Okay, I'm treating the tank with Jungle brand 'Parasite Clear'. It contains Prazi (sp?) which I read is good for treating anchor worms.

Fish leech or anchorworms. Do you have access to Sera Cyprinopur or dimilin?
