is Datnoides cf. polota another type of datnoid because i only know of AT, ST, NGT, NTT, and IT as the species of dats around. i've read about it while randomly browsing buy/sell sub forum. can someone tell me?

Was there a pic to go with it? Sounds like an AT to me too.

none actually, but did a few searches on the web and it's also dubbed as a gold face dat.

AT is the American tiger, which usedto be datnoides quadrafaciatus. That name is now changed to datnoides polota. I don't know what cf. Stands for though.

i'll quote this from fugupuff: "Datnoid polota from India, different from Silver datnoid 4" $75.00 one piece only, was a sample shipment, but I have to catch him first from the 700 gallon!" , guess that makes it different. thanks anyway guys.

Datnioides polota is the species name of the dats commonly referred to as American Tiger or Silver datnoid, so it would be the same.

However, from what I´ve read, D. polota has a pretty wide geographical distribution: India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and even New Guinea.

So, when advertising "D. polota from India", maybe Fugupuff wishes to highlight the differences between those D. polota and the others from the same species.

Which differences? I don´t know...

$75 is expensive for a 4 Inch silver. Very very expensive.
