I am building a 6X6 ray tank. Yes, glass, with plywood bottom. Made from used tanks I bought. It will be open top. I have 5 IT's, and have never known them to be jumpers. I want to put them in the ray tank but don't want to have them end up on the floor. Do any of you have first hand experience with Dats in open top tanks? The tank won't be all the way full, water level about 6" down from top. I have considered putting an additional glass wall on top so that I wouldn't need to worry as much, maybe another foot higher.
Thanks
Rodger

Yes, they can jump. I had a big ST jump out of a cooler and land in the back seat of a car before while we were getting it ready to be transported. Luckily he was okay. I think it just panicked from being in a small space. Never had one jump or try to jump out of an actual tank.

I think you should be concerned about your rays jumping... i have seen mine come half way out of the tank before just looking for food, and i believe i read Rapps had a BD jump and land on a concrete floor from 6 feet up.

what are you using the front and back panels from used 6 foot tanks?

Yes, the 4 long sides. I will have it eurobraced, so not really worried about the rays. The water level will be about 6" below the rim. I have never heard of a ray jumping, only going up the side and over the rim.

Oh, I know they CAN jump. I had the bucket experience too. I agree, from my experience, they don't normally jump.

Thanks for everones input. I am a few months away from filling, so plenty of time to explore my options.
