I have 5 young ITs. They enjoy exploring the tank and swimming around when the light is off, but when it's on they all cower in the corners or under a rock. Granted I've only had them for two days. Will they become less afraid of the light with time? I added some driftwood thats floating now, which subdues the light a bit too...

Thanks-

Almost all my Dats don't like the tank light. The ones I picked up from a member was in a low lit tank. So any light will make them flee into hiding. I have a few that I picked up from a lfs that was in a well lit tank. They didn't mind the light, but since I don't really turn the lights on, anytime I do turn it on, they act like the others and hide now. I believe that they'll get used to it.

I have a few dats in my tank they pretty much go dark after i turn on my lights and start hiding in the corners. i guess the best way is to pretty much cover up the top with some plants to subdue the light and make the surroundings as "natural" as possible adding in driftwood for them to hide as their pretty skittish..

I find that a light with a dimmer feature works best. Gradually increasing the amount of light in the tank does not scare my Dats.

I always find Indos prefer subdue lighting. Try using a tube that is say half the length of the tank. Thus creating darker areas at either end of tank.
Then try feeding every other day, and your tigers will display alot more
and hide less.
Wait a 2-3 months and put light on a timer.they'll take time to adjust to bright light if you decide to stick with bright lights.

thanks for all the replies guys!

you guys know where i can find a half decent aquarium light dimmer? google isn't helping me much today.

They sell dimmers and timers at Home Depot that work fine on fish lights.
