i know this question comes up a lot... but while i was searching for information on L128 plecos i came across this site.

http://www.fnzas.org.nz/tropical_aquarium_fish/

if you scroll down to datnoid microlepis it seems that in new zealand it has been reported to have been bred.... now im going to dig deeper into this and check out their forum to see whats the deal with this.

It does not say "have been bred" - it says it exists in NZ - in a store, or whatever - "reported being seen"

Even if they were being bred in captivity thats not much of a achievement. As it has been done before. Now find a article on breeding pulchers and ill be interested.

have indos been bred in captivity? wouldnt they take the same concepts to wide bars to get them to breed?

They may have. since they seem to be easily obtained, and many indos have similar patterns, it would suggest cammerical breeding has occurred, but I have yet to see any evidence that ANY dat has been captive bred.

But Wide Bars are from different water basins and will require different needs/wants in order to breed. So IF indos are being bred, studing their breeding habits will only help to breed Pulchers to a point.

Also since the number of Pulchers are dwindling, and because of the price they demand, its harder to get a bunch in one place in order to get a couple to pair up.

agree w/ TCZeli...

i've seen a lot of small indo dats being offered for sale in here (well i'm from Indonesia) so i guess there might be some kind of captivity breeding process involved...

never heard anything on Pulchers though and we can NOT get pulchers here..
