Are datnoids generally shy? I hae a 2 inch widebar in my 75 and I barely see him. It has been 3 weeks since I redecorated the tank and I just saw him last night. He is really nice looking and I am hoping to see him more. I have only seen him eat a pellet once, but he does eat. He is looking great, but I was wondering if most datnoids are shy or if it is just mine. How about yours?

i have heard of a lot of dats being shy especially when they are as small as yours

I would say that in general dats are shy especially when they are younger. It takes awhile for them to get used to their new tank. When they get bigger they tend to be bolder. Just give him a little time. Once he gets on your feeding schedule, he will be the first one out begging for food!

before i got my dat everything i read said that they were shy. luckily for me the one i got isn't shy at all

Even if he hides all the time now, he is going to get to a point when he doesn't fit in his hiding holes any more.

Thats semms common to me. I have a 8"Indo and and 3" Thinbar. The Indo is very personable but the Thinbar usually stays covered. Its been a little over a month since I have had both of them. The Thinbar only comes out when he sees me coming with the Krill.

I bought 2 4" dats from ivan and they dont seem to be shy at all, they are like my oscar, they come straight up to the glass to say hello 2 me.
