Datnoids

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just started datnoid keeping but that looks indo and they act as cichlids really aggressive to their own kind and a hit or miss to others. But i believe they are fine with bottom feeders that wont fit in there mouth.

Mine ignored all the other fish. they only act aggressively to other dats and fish that are bite sized. They are extremely slow growers and can be hard to get onto non live food. Mine only grew 2 inches in 4 months got ich and died. Seem to be a pretty weak fish in that respect but until he got ich he was perfectly fine and healthy, only problem is I couldn't get him onto pellets I tried everything so he had a diet of live only and to be honest I wish I had never bothered getting him. I should've waited to pick up a bigger one that was pellet trained for a bit more.

If that's the fish pictured that's a great deal. I'd go for it. You won't find it aggressive at all to fish that don't fit in its mouth, or to other datnoids. Diff species of dat will fight each other as well, potentially.

If you're going to get multiple datnoids, get AT LEAST 3, preferably 5+, or keep them solo. Never get a pair, as one is likely to bully the other to death.
