Dats and black water

I was kind of curious on what kind of effects it would have on my dats, I have them in a 405 with some cichla and I was thinking of doing black water in it but im afraid that it may do something to the dats. Does any one know if it would be safe or not?

I dont really know the answer but ive had dats in dyed water from driftwood and they seem to do just fine. Dont know if this helps.

Yeah thanks I imagine backwater is basically the same, does the same thing.
