Any one ever have any trouble with thier Dats pestering rays???

Would it be safe housing 2 6in silver dats with small retic rays?

I keep pulchers and thin bars with my rays no problem even had a ngt in there with no problem
if your silvers are stable in pure fresh you should not have a problem and rays can tollerate a lil bit of salt not much though

its a perect mix

i have hurd people say that silver tigers and NGT are brakish but they seam fine in FW to me

never seen a tiger snap at a ray i have seen a ray try to eat a tiger but as soon as they feel the shape dorsal fin they let them go

perfect mix for rays in my opinion aro tigers

I have kept silver dats in brackish and in fresh. It doesn't seem to me like they prefer one over the other.

I watched them very closely for the first few weeks. Everything seemed fine.

Got home yesterday after work and all 3 retics dead. Just trying to rule out the Dats having anything at all to do with it.

Thank you very much for the replies.

I doubt very much that the dats had anything to do w/ the death of your rays. I know a lot of hobbyists who keep dats w/ rays, although most don't keep silver dats.

I don't think it had anything to do with the dats either. Just coincidence. Just trying to rule out things.

Why is it that no one keeps silvers? Are they the must "undesireable" of all the dats?

if all 3 rays died then its a water problem

even if it was a fish that was the problem all 3 rays wouldnt have died at the same time

rays hate big changes in PH or nitrite or amonia

is .25 enough ammonia to kill them???? PH is constant. Doesn't change from tap to tank.

The oldest ray used to get 50% waterchanges. And I know he had delt with higher ammonia than .25 on several occasions. Never bothered him. No more than 35% is changed now.

2 of the 3 filters quit 2 days prior. One was restarted the other pulled. But if this was a source of the problem wouldn't it have affected water parameters?

Long shot.......but I have heard that sand can harbor toxic chemicals if it compacts and is not stirred. Is it possible for this to be the source of my problem?
