Does anyone outthere that has dats ever got one to eat prepared foods as opposed to live guppys,goldfish,.....Just got a juvie about 3/4 inch want to try pellets, dry worms, krill, planton all dry...plus frozen in between,,,is it possible???any help would be appreciated.....

Mine are the same size. They eat bloodworms, frozen krill, and dried krill. If it refuses frozen foods now though, you should probably wait until its at least 1.5"-2" minimum before you try starving it.

My widebar eats frozen foods....ive also heard of dats even eating pellets.

It just takes lots of training and patience.

every single Dat i have owned has eaten prepared foods and my 12'' widebar will even eat pellets.
i always feed them up on the food they will eat and once fat enough to withstand a period of starvation i use the starvation method until it takes what i want it too eat.

My 10 will nibble on small peices of frozen shrimp ( thawed ) after 2 hours in a tank so idk ":)

I just got 6 one inchers and they eat everything. Freeze dried krill, Arowana food sticks, Hikari carnivore pellets, froozen blood worms, Freeze dried tubifex worms, frozen mysis, cichlid pellets, and tropical flake to name a few. I haven't had any issues with them at all. Maybe I just got lucky.:headbang2
