i noticed my thin bar about 5" and my little indos about 1.5" are flashing, very often. i tested my water and the nitrite level is really high, so i started to change water. i change 1/8 of the tank every other day for the past week and still doing it this week. and i dumpped like a whole bottle (small size) of stress-zyme into my 125g a couple days ago. also, i bought some ammonia chips and dropped them in there as well and some aquarium salt. however, the dats are still flashing. just the dats though, the jar and other fishes i have in there seems to be fine.
wut do i do to lower that damn nitrite level...ofcourse besides wut i'm doing rite now. and are dats more sensitive to nitrite than other fishes? thank you!

here's some pix

more bio-filters ?? add bio spira to reduce cycling time ??

how long has the tank been set up.....????????????

the double edged sword is: it sounds like it is not fully cycled....you need to keep the nitrires down for the fish but it prolongs the time to fully cycle ....

bio spira may help with existing filters or with additional bio filtration if needed....

the tank has been set up for about 8 or 9 month, so the initial cycle was established along time ago. but somehow i think the bacteria had a break down or something and the nitrites are not turning into nitrate...bio spira? is it a solution like Cycle/stress zyme? thank you! o btw, i would so love you visit your 5000g if possible, i live in LA too ^^

feed a little as possible for now thaT WILL ALSO HELP
no bio spira is live bacteria to establish the cycle....SEE YOUR LFS FOR SOME....

pm about a visit near the 10 and 405

*sigh...

i used to live near 57 and often passed 10 and 405...

but now i'm back to other part of the world...too bad didn't have a chance to see ur huge tanks!

both of them are fine now, it turned out, i read the reading of the test strip wrong...i got no2 and no3 mixed up...no wonder no matter how much live bacteria i added, the test result was just not changing. anyhow, after consistent water change, the no3 lv has come down to normal.
and about having the dats at size 5" and 6" living w/the 12"-13" jar, there's no problem at all ^^ the jar rarely even notice the existence of my dats, but they do fight among themselves, the 6" always chases the 5" around
