I have a tank with a 5inch jag male in it and wondering if i can add a dat or two, perfer indo. its a 125gallon tank. i know the tank is small for them in the long run but i heard the grow slow i will have alot of time to upgrade. and im starting off with 2-4 inch dats

My three 9" IT's swim comfortably side by side with a 13.5" male Dovii in a 265g. Sometimes he chases them and they hide but sometimes they stand their ground. Large Datnoids aren't as helpless as some make them out to be. My last Jag was extremely passive but the one before that was an aggressive maniac. I guess my point is that it may work and maybe not. GL what ever you decide.

I kept AT in a CA cichlid community tank where the Jag was the biggest fish and ruled the tank. He only seemed to go after the other cichlids and would only half heartedly chase the AT. The AT did fine and eventually grew to close to 13 inches. You just want to avoid the situation where the Dat will be the only fish in the tank with one aggressive cichlid, such as a jag. Unless it is a very big tank, you're asking for trouble.

It might work, but chances are probably not.
