day 1 mini planted tank

thought i share the progress of my 1 gal mini system i plan on it being self suffcient exept for water changes of course ,this is day one look close and youll see the dwarf afrcan frog

he needs a name open to ideas

i'm using eco-complete substrate with a nine watt compact flouresent ,no filter going try and maintain it with water changes i made a mini power head with a fountain pump and i have set up a co2 line into the pump soon to have a sponge havnt worked out the sponge part as of yet

really sweet, i kept a pair of dwarf frogs and a newt in an unfiltered one gallon for about 3 years, I moved them to a filtered 5 gallon and in a few months they exploded

Good luck and looks really sweet. I too want to know what kinds of lights you are using because I might make a planted 5 gallon with the very same tank I just told you abaout.

thanxs i'm using a 9 watt compact floresent this is going to be replaced with a dual 15 watt compact


i just converted the pump the bottom base pops off in goes a sponge
drilled a hole in the base for the co2 airline sucks it in nice low current too

the excitmet of the big tank
but ya what happend to them i put a fire belly newt in with a floria shoft shell turtle and my turtle ate it

I also get a good chuckle there thefishofdoom when i look at the size of the 1 gallon i have filters twice as big but i'll tell u this it is harder to keep a mini planted tank flourishing then a large one don't know many people that can do it so i hope you enjoy the pics as i update
my goal is to make it look like a huge aquascaped system in the pics if it works out i may even try to sell my systems as a package pumps lighting co2 ect
