I read that, day geckos shouldent be handled what so ever, because of their sensitive skin.Is this true.I dont have one,but this is always a question i wanted to ask.I saw customers at a lfs holding them, when i walked past.

They have very delicate skin and it can tear if handled to roughly. Only a pro should handle them. The only time I ever touch mine is if he's in the way when I'm cleaning the terrarium or if he jumps on my arm when I'm cleaning. They bite a lot too.

they definately are not made for handling, I have personally seen one's skin rip from even slightly rough handling. The gecko tried to get away, the holder struggled to keep it from jumping, and the skin form its shoulder down its back came loose :(

I would be horrified and scarred for the rest of my life if I saw that!

What is your cleaning method?

Yes don't hold day geckos. They should be a display animal only. And like mentioned, it doesn't take much to tear their delicate skin.

Besaides its very stressfull for them. And dont forget their tail

If you want an arboreal lizard that is cool to handle....go with a crested gecko. They don't need any major heat either, they like it in the 70s....pretty minimal and easy care requirements, a good lizard to get your feet wet with if you like arboreals...

I use spray down the glass sides with a mister and wipe them down with a paper towel. I also use a bit of this freshener I have to make it smell better.
