Today I went out and dedicated my day to planting my tank! Since I'll be going to Switzerland for various reasons next week, I didn't go and get any major amounts of plants. I did however, add the following to my tank:
Four ghost shrimp (plenty of places for them to hide, one is pregnant)
Two anubis narrows
One java fern
And some planted tank substrate.
I ended up saving most of the water that was in the tank before because it had a nice light brown color to it (tannins) and Ive read that those are beneficial to the plants and fish. My fish seem to like it anyway. I was able to rearrange everything that need to be rearranged (stuff like the bubbler that was at an awkward angle) and kinda make it look nice. Then I let it sit and let the filter do most of the de clouding of the tank. After it was mostly done I put the fish in. Now that they all know that they aren't going to get netted and put in a bucket to wait for a good part of the day, they are out exploring their new surroundings. And now that the cloudiness is mostly gone, the tank looks good! As sparsly planted as it is, I'm pretty excited to be apart of the planted tank community! Unfortunatly no pics at this time but hopefully some tomorrow! Thanks for reading!
