A few weeks ago I posted a thread about my gt pair asking how to get them to spawn well last weekend or so they did but sadly one of other fish ate them about half were infirtile so I did s water change and moved the father to my 29 with a smaller male and 1" jack dempsey . Today I was watching my two females and noticed that her philopine tube dropped again so I put the male back and almost immeditly her tube went back up or inside her . What the heck am I doing wrong

It's somewhat common for the first couple spawns to either not be fertilized or the parents just not know how to take care of them. Don't separate a pair unless they're getting overly aggressive with each other and even then I'd use a divider. Remember your first time with a girl? Probably wasn't very well coordinated, but practice makes perfect. :D

I would have to costume make a divider I havent found one for a 40 breeder. I figured cause it would take a few more batches for them to get it right . Im hoping they spawn again

I agree that separating them could have broken the pair bond. Hopefully they will spawn again for you. The easiest way to make a divider is to get some eggcrate from home depot or lowes. I just use suction cups to keep them in place.

i dont know if they really broke that bond between them now that they are together again they have been acting like they normally do and the female started digging the sand out a corner of the tank. i never thought of that. the piece of glass i had didint let the water flow completely . one side would be cold and the other was warm.
