Hi there I found a dead angel the other day...I have a 180 gallon 3 feet tall and 5 feet long. They were quarter size when I got them now they are about 4 inches. there is about 13 or 14 in there I notice that they are squaring off I think ready to pair off and breed.

Is it possible that one could have been killed by fighting I cant see anything else that would have killed it...and they are the biggest in the tank...

Any ideas...

thanks,

how did it look like dead? Is it beaten, scales torn off?

If scales aren't torn off my next guess would be an impacted digestive tract/bloat.

If the belly looks incredibly full then it likely died of an impacted intestinal tract. Which is a common ailment in discus and angelfish.

If this is the case then try increasing the temperature to 82-84 degree's F and adding some epsom salt to act as a laxative.

Increasing the temperature that high will also help to kill off many common parasites that could have been the cause - although if internal parasites are suspected then a round of metro would be a good idea.

cool not bloat and I it was hard to tell if there were scales missing...will raise the heat and add teh salt as preventative..incase..

Thanks

Well to day I look and there is the answer...a whole clutch of eggs on the side of the tank....weird there is a bunch of slate in the tank but they took the back wall which is black...Oh well there you go!.
