my male brissle nose died today he had a large sore on his head that we were trying to treat but alas we failed to help him

dont know what caused it i got him about a month ago from lfs i noticed a small white area on his head about four days later.He then developed ared raised area near his front fin and the one on his head got steadly bigger.Our water is really good.we tried salt and then we tried malachite green.
