Hello everyone. I have been involved in animal care for many years, working as a vet tech and have had fish tanks my whole life. Recently, I added to my collection my first SW tank. A 55 gallon FO tank. Its fully cycled and has 2 black damsels in it. Last week, I purchased the next fish for it- a very pretty medium sized Copperband Butterfly. The fish settled in well, and after a day or two seemed very at home. But I never saw her eat any of the flake food or brine shrimp I was offering. She seemed interested, but I never saw her eat anything other than some algea in the tank. Last night I observed the tank extensively before going to sleep, and all of the fish were acting naturally. However, this morning, the butterfly fish is dead. The water quality is excellent, and the damsels seem absolutely fine. So the only problem I could think of is that the fish wasn't eating. But I am surprised because the fish was acting pretty normally. Any thoughts? What can I do to prevent this sudden death in the future? I can't afford to loose fish like this!
TIA for all of your help

God Bless

Jeffrey B
