Aaaaand another one bites the dust.

Woke up yesterday to see my 4 year old male del dead in the pond (another mysterious death perhaps?) Sucks to see a very healthy poly just die all of a sudden yearrrrrrrrg!
On a side note, he had his anal fin cupped when I found him (screwing around or courting my female?)

At the center, this is him 4 years ago, still a bit white washed from the LFS at 5"

How long was he in the pond? An what are his tank mates?

Sorry to hear u lost him, I dont belive in "Mystery deaths" By the looks of the titles on your last few threads, you had a tank crash a couple months back, and set up a "temp pond", since then have lost several bichirs. What are the parameters like in the new pond ? Perhaps it's also having some cycle issues ? Or maybe some sort of bacteria or parasite has been picked up.

I'd start trying to figure it out before u loose all those fish! Fish dont just up and die one after another!

Man that sucks, sorry for your loss

To be exact: 4 endli's, 2 laps, 1 ornate, 1 sen and 1 del plus 1 red tiger oscar and 2 spotted gars.

Right on Dev, only said mystery as I don't know why it died as of now, the previous 2 ornates did because of bloat. This del though just died all of a sudden. I'm going to get a water quality test kit to give you a more exact answer on the pond params. Now that you mention the cycle, it may be possible but I'm speculating right now, same with the bacteria parasite theory. I do a 1/3 water change every 2 weeks using rain water. Also using an 11 watt uv lamp for treating algae. Any more tips/info is extremely welcome!

Dave, sorry for another loss. I hope this will be my last time to reply on your thread about a bichir found dead :(
