I just got a new appartment and I had to move my 55 gallon tank. Cycling was not an option so I tried to save as much water in buckets as I could from the tank to use. I move my red devil in last night and got the tank set up. I woke up this morning and there was this white looking slime comming out of him. It looked like somone hocked a lugy, just stringy and nasty. I moved to a new city so I am wondering if its the water or if something caused from stress made him ooze all that crap out into the tank and die. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

Stress can do it but first 2 ideas. The first thing I need to ask is did you remember to use dechlor (one that also neutralizes chloramine)? I have caught myself forgetting that step.
The second thing is have you tested your new tap water? Test for pH and copper especially.

definitely sounds like an irritant-based demise. do you know anything about the new apartment - recent carpet treatment/cleaning, painting, bug spray before you moved in? did you have a window open and the city came by during the night and sprayed pesticides or herbicides?
