This is what I came home to yesterday. I haven't lost a fish in years. 5-6" Hikari stick, pellet, krill eating armatus. The only thing I can possibly think of is he died from the result of the sharp points on freeze dried krill. This guy was bold, agressive, and in your face all the time. I noticed after a feeding one day he was acting skittish and his gills were sort of flaired out. He didn't eat for the next 2-3 days. He began eating again but his appetite wasn't what it was before. Then yesterday I came home to this.

That sucks! Sorry for your loss..

Wow! Sorry....

Perhaps he got spooked and swam into the glass really hard???

I wonder if there's something happening to these guys that we don't understand.

I have 7 on ice. Some of them were definetly killed by rays but some seem to have died right out of the blue for no reason. Similar to this.

Sorry for your loss man. I bet some time and work went into this fish considering its diet.

Possibly. This dude was not one to be spooked. I was moving him from a 55 gallon to a 125 when he was about 4". When I put the net into the tank to catch him this guy actually swam over and attacked the net. I have never seen a characin so agressive and outgoing. He actually let me catch him and didn't freak out. Within five minutes of being in the new tank he was eating hikari sticks.

I'm sorry for your loss
