I bought 12 rosy reds from petco yesterday and I have them in a quarantine tank right now and all but three died... at first I put them all in my tank and a couple died and went to the bottom so I took them all out and threw the dead ones away and put the rest in a smaller tank by them selves I check on them and there all dead except 3 I am a little worried cause my fish ate a couple of them before I noticed them dying... ah this is what happens when you forget/skip the quarantine proccess.. just say a little prayer that my fish will be ok:(

ok checked on them now they all died and not even 15 minutes ago 3 were still alive oh yea I forgot to mention they all died right after twitching crazily
:bs::swear::WTF:

I'm not a expert but it seems like you just dumped them in there without floating their bag and letting their temperature difference catch up. Temperature change probably got them if they died that fast and they were twitching.. Did you take them home and dump them in a bucket of water or did you let their quarantine tank sit for a couple of days first? If so that your problem.. I've also learned that guppies actually need a heater. They die a lot faster if you keep them in room temperature.

I've only lost 4/13 and its been like 2 weeks now. I think 1 of them was just beat to death for fun by my baby Trimac but I'll never know.. I think I'm doing good so far but I know theres people that get lucky and lose none. I give my guppies stress coat and salt every time I change their water and I think it keeps their immunes good. I don't have a filter on their tank but I do have a decent sized bubbler to break down their waste, and a cory cat too eat the rest.

twitching?

im gonna guess it was due to not having a heater on the tank or you didnt let the bag sit in the water.it could have also been chlorine.

just a guess...

Was there a temp difference between your tank and the source tank?

What are we talking about here, feeders right....Rosy Reds come from cold water from the get go....This case sounds like pure water temperature shock...Add the stress of bouncing on somoene's lap during the car ride and you have yourself some "dizzy" fish....lol....Temperature shock prevention:float the bag or drip line....

well come on they're in the "feeder" tanks...
they're packed, lack of oxygen, no food, high ammonia levels, etc....look at the left side of the tank where they have the filter...yeah there's a bunch of dead ones stacked there.

twitching sounds like temp shock to me

I got lucky with one of my goldfish one day I had the water around 40 degrees for my icefishing bait. The goldfish was in there to teach the minnows to come up to the surface and eat the flakes which he did really well. Well one day when I came back home from a long day on the ice the water in the bait can was about 33 degrees and I put my goldfish in there because I was cleaning out the cooler and my goldfish layed on its side not moving I thought it was defiantly dead. I quickly put it back in the cooler water and luckily it made it after about 10 minutes.
