Dead snail stuck on power head

This morning as i was looking at the tank i saw my snail stuck on the power head. I pulled him off but it was to late. Does anyone have any ideals on how to keep them off the power head. Thanks

Wrap sponge around the input flow.

I also use media bags to place them over the intake. In the future, if you notice this, turn off the powerhead/filter and let the snail drop. Then isolate it, i have had a few recover from injuries as long as their mantle has not collapsed.
