So I recently put some horned nerite snails into my freshwater tank, however, not all of them survived the shipping or the transfer to the new tank. I was wondering if leaving the dead snails in my tank would have any bad effect on the water conditions or the SA cichlids that are in there now, because i kind of like the random shells in my tank.

Dead nerites stink a lot worse than a garbage. They will only elevate your ammonia dangerously so dispose them quickly. If you want to keep the shells, you could try prying off the dead snail from the shell by leaving it in a bucket of water for a few days but it could smell worse after that.

shouldn't cause a ripple. i usually remove them just because its easier to monitor the wellbeing of the other snails that way.

Dead snails are one of the worst smells ever
