so i woke up this morning and looked at the tank to see a motionless puffer on the bottom of the tank that i just purchased 2 days ago and a lionfish fin underneath a rock i stuck my hand in the tank and poked the puffer to see if he would move the water was colder than it was last night at feeding time i wrapped my hand around the heater ...nothing i just got that heater 2 months ago.

damn that's too bad...that almost happened to me too a couple months ago. My heater stopped working and when i got home both my bichirs were hardly moving, i just unplugged the heater and plugged it back in. Also i added warm water to the tank and they were back to normal in about 15 mins.

weird i just pulled the heater out and it heated up again the water didn't get that much colder i went too bed really late and got up early and the tank was warm when i went to bed.

sounds like the heater died and killed everything with temp shock sorry to hear

holy shpoop never knew this could happen i thought the heater would just run out of juice after a couple years but never just randomly stop working and then an unplug and replug would solve that.......damn hope this never happens with any of my tanks (knocks on wood) sorry for your loss man
