So i had a texas cichlid that was the same size as the jackdempsey i have in the 55. Thinking it was big enough to put him in there without getting eaten by the Oscar, i found him 20 minutes later without a head, Does anyone know why the Oscar would eat the Texas cichlid but not the jack dempsey, The JD can swim next to him and wont even pay him any attention so idk why it ate the Texas but never the JD.

perhaps the oscar was attempting to rebel against the ole motto dont mess with texas, or he was hungry
im not sure but the tank size might have alot to do with it. 55 gallons to small to house all 3 fish.
Also, any smaller newly added fish can be viewed as prey, where as long time inhabitants may be ignored.

yup, i think my Texas might have been a little dumb cause him walk up to the oscar like it was trying to intimidate him,a brave but foolish Texas
