this might be a pretty silly post but im just wondering if those dead live rock (natural white, no bleach) is any good for bio filter in discus sump tank?

i know that these are great bio filter for marine tanks but im not sure if it will be the same for baceria produces in freshwater tank

will these rocks raise pH?? i know that the live one does :D

i ask my local fish shop they said these rock will work on both salt and freshwater tank.

the sump set up is a standard 30" tank with bio ball and these white rocks...

Thank you,

added info on the rock
these live rocks are quite small aprox 1"-3" and sold in a small package of 0.5 kilogram in my contry :D it fix perfectly on the sump

They will develop a bacterial colony. They are very porus for bacteria to grow in. They could raise the Ph a bit.

dogofwar... thank you
i ran the test and it frizzes.... :( i brought 11 bags now it useless lol

any other media you recommend to replace the rock?

the now the sump has wool filter and plastic meshes for the mech filter and bio ball for bio.
