deadly driftwood

So i work for a pest control company and the chemical we spray says dont spray around ponds or lakes that contain fish, but i was curious if i have only sprayed this piece of driftwood (at a customers house, til i steal it) a handfull of times will it kill my fish if i put it in my tank. i mean i just noticed this piece the other day and well i spray the house monthly (once a month) but i dont know how many times ive sprayed it. during the summers it gets up to 115 sometimes 120 and now the highs are around 90-95 for the next week. would i be able to take it home and soak it something or just water for a month or so changing the water daily, would that work. or does anyone have any ideas.....good or bad. thanks

i would put it in a tank with some goldfish or any feeder fish to see if it works

it might i would soak it and wash it alot ,then put it in a big tub and add a feeder gold fish or 2 in to and see how they do b4 i would ever put it in a tank ive used bleach to clean a few fish tank ortaments in the past and rinsed it througly and it never harmed a fish but never wood.. wood probly retains the chemicals better but if this chemical spray you use you have to re spray monthly i assuem it washes away just me .02

that was kinda what i was thnking but i was sure if goldfish were more hardy than the fish in my tank. and not knowing if they would die because of the chemical in the wood or just non-cycled water.

Wow, no one sees a problem with stealing the wood from the OP's customer?

And I don't know what is dumber, putting your job on the line over a piece of poisoned wood, or putting the poisoned wood in your tank knowing that the container says not to.

well the customer are old ppl that live in california and are hardly here so they would never notice it. and well i was just curious if there was a way that i could out it in my tank by decontaminating it first? if i bleach it, what should the ratio should be of h2o to bleach that wont be to much to leech out and kill my fish? thanks

wow thats a very nasty comment. i hardly use my strimmer so does that make it ok for someone to steal it.
