I found this setup on craigslist and have contacted the owner about pics and overall dimensions. Looked like a sweet deal until they reposted talking about a chip that doesn't affect the integrity of the tank!?! Is this still a good deal? Or should I walk away because of the chip? I don't want to drop the cash on something that will be useless. The pictures that the have are of the tank only half full as well. Any sound logical advice would be appreciated. Heres a link to the ad, http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/pet/1124670417.html

I would have them fill it all the way up and set for a good ten minutes at least in front of me before even thinking about it ;)

Coming with everything it has seems like it is still a nice deal ;) But I ALWAYS make sure the tanks I am buying are FILLED when I get threre or before I pay ;)

I think it might just be that I'm from cali... but paying $500 for a 150gal out here is almost like getting ripped off... sure the fx5 is nice and worth $200+... I still think you'd be able to find a better deal... Patience my friend, patience... I found a 210 for $100 here, a 85 gal for $25, and now theres another 100 gal for $25... I really don't want it but ****, I can't pass it up... I am almost praying the seller doesn't get back to me or I'll be forced to buy..

All in all, I'd say pass on this one...

$300...I would sell it for $300 with no filter.....A guy who is selling a 150 with a Fluval is more desperate to make money....Used 6ft 150-180's go for $200-300 around me

#1 scary thing - in the pic, the tank is only partially full - NOT a good sign, why would it "help them" in moving to only keep the tank 1/2 full??? You cant move a 150 w/ water in it... so its stationary - there is also no hardware in the tank (not even a heater?), canister filter wont reach down to where the water lvl is, so there is no filtration... so these people took out all the hardware, 1/2 the water and then took a pic to post on craigslist??? hmmmm....
#2 scary thing - yea its just a chip now... but chips have a way to turning into cracks... wouldnt EVER want to run a magfloat over that spot...

pass please as emily noted. Lots of bad signs going on. I get bad vibes looking at that ad as well.

Well... to me it Doesn't sound like a good deal for that price ... especially bc its only made out of glass, and there is a chip in it too. And in reality... if i were to buy a big size tank like that... i would look for an acrylic tank, much lighter, easier to transport, and much more durable than glass.

it may just be me but ill never buy a second hand tank for some reason im put off the idea

I won't say whether or not its a good deal, but I have a couple tanks that have had chips in them. They never bothered me for a second. If you are thinking about buying it, go look at the chip and see how big it actually is, then have them fill it all the way up. If they wan't, then there's the tell-tale sign it has issues. Also, make sure to look over all the stuff to see if it works as well.
