No pics and no scientific names so, I guess we have to break out the crystal ball:
By 'marble lung', do you mean the african Protopterus aethiopicus? If so, $40 is a good deal for an 8 incher. The spotted lungfish can be either the african Protopterus annectens or the south american Lepidosiren paradoxa. And, $40 for either one, as a 15 incher, is also a good deal. Each of the african lungs would make a great display in a "one of" tank since they can't be trusted with other fish including their own kind. The south american lung would do OK in a community tank provided its tankmates were too big to become a meal.

Sounds like a good deal to me aslong as you dont have to worry about shipping... Shipping will always get you!!!!
they are Protopterus aethiopicus congicus about 8" and a Protopterus dolloi about 18 or so. both for 40 bucks. which is a better fish
How would you define which is "better"? They're both interesting fish. If you're looking for girth on an adult, go with the aethiopicus. For a long lean looking lung, go with the dolloi. Here's an idea of what you'd be looking at if you keep an aethiopicus to full adulthood:
is that yours thats big. about how big. how much is something like that cost. oh and how fast do they grow
I wish that was mine. I have no idea what a monster like that would cost. But, that tank alone must have set someone back a few grand to house that one fish. My albino ran me several hundred bucks at 1.5ft. I have 5 species of LF at the moment:

what do you feed them. whats a good tank to start my 8" in i know i will haft to up grade alot but what to put him in for know. can you hold them out side of water and stuff. how should i set up the aquarium just water, should i put some gravel or some thing
