I had my true gt and my firemouth x convicts in a 55 for a week with no problems with aggression. Now I put the hybrids in their own 55 and the male has been very aggressive toward his mate. Last night my power went out for a little while so I put the gt with the hybrids since I only have one battery air pump. I noticed that the hybrid male isnt being aggressive now . What should I do to keep the aggression down

Should I put the male hybrid and gt together and leave the female alone

If you have 1 male con x firemouth and a female con x firemouth then I would suggest the aggression comes from the male entirely dominating the female. You could try a number of things, obviously the green terror being in with them helps tone down the aggression because the male knows he can't take on both the green terror AND the other hybrid. Putting the two males together might eventually result in the same thing, because the pecking order is only 2 tiers. Dispersing aggression by keeping them all in one tank, or providing dither fish, might be the best solution (unless you want to employ dividers which provides endless options and arrangements).

I think I might try dithers first. The hybrid male does try to take on both the gt and female but the gt is too much for him to handle. The pair started tag teaming the gt at first then the male turned on the female to seal their bond and she ran lol. So idk how strong their bond is right now.

I tried like 8 bloodfin tetras cuz they were on sale for $1 each. Doesnt seem to make a difference the male hybrid pushed all of the other fish to one side of the tank.
