Long story short: my bichir is on a death bed floating upside down but still breathing and moving once in a while. He's definitly on his last leg.

Short story long I had a clown knife fish, bichir, and recently added a florida gar. The clown knife was the first too go. It stopped eating, became very lethargic and developed a red spot near it's tail. One day I came home and it was floating at the top of the tank :( Fast forward a couple months and now the bichir has stopped eating, has no signs of red spots (although the tail area is somewhat redder than the front of the body and there is a very faint black dot near the tail), is very lathargic, and is now floating upside down at the bottom of the tank. I have a feeling it's a bacterial infection with a possible blockage in intestinal track. I'm preparing to euthanize the bichir as I type this but my concerns now rest on the gar. Should I prazi-pro this fish to preven bacterial infections. HELP, whatever is happening is reeking HAVOC on this tank :WHOA:

Wow that sucks. If you choose to put down the bichir definitely treat with a broad spectrum medication. I recommend paraguard by seachem. (Covers almost all fish ailments)

Positive, he has shown no aggression towards the other fish. In fact, the clown knife fish was showing the lathargic signs and not eating before the gar was placed into the tank. What has me worried is that I was trying to sell the bichir and transfer my gar to the stingray tank so that I could break down the smaller tank. I dont want to move the gar into the tank and risk him infecting the stingray though. The gar has shown no signs of sickness and is eating like a pig though.

same thing happens to me... The only thing that I noticed is my water parameter... They did have bacterial infection that will start with a single scratch... I'm able to save my fishes but not my clown knives and my very own delhezi...
