This is a bad week, I lost 2 fish this week, my baby black shark starved himself to death. Then I moved my other black shark to another aquarium so he wouldn't get bullied by the bigger black shark and rainbow shark. Im at work when my girl friend calls me and says my fish is missing, and she can't find him anywhere. I came home and looked under the sponge filter and heater and couldn't find him. Then I emptied the hob filter and found him chopped up. He didn't get sucked up as there is no open hole bigger then 1/10th of an inch.
My guess is he jumped out from where the hob flows back in and landed inside the hob filter where he somehow go into the impeller.
So lesson learned was put tin foil over the opening so there is just barely enough room for the water to flow back in. never thought a top fin 20 hob would kill a fish.
