Question is those who have kept Dimidiochromis Compressiceps, have you ever had other fishes die suddenly with one eye missing? I found a 3" female peacock of mine dead missing an eye. Although not many people have seen a malawi eye biter in action, have you heard of it happening or should i be worried that its something else. I do a ~50% pwc every week the coarse filters in my canister are rinsed out every 2-3wks and water is tested so its not likely due to water conditions.

By sudden i mean shes acting normal, swimming and fitting for food one day and in the morning shes over in the corner dead with an eye missing.

Extra.....
I have a mix of peacocks/haps ranging from 3" to 6" been fine for 9 months 2 have died due to aggression sadly but this time i dont know who did it. Usually i would see them getting chased for a week or so but this is like a friggin fish chupacabra.

The eyes of a fish are soft and easy to eat. What most likely happened is the fish died and then they ate the eye. Any fish will eat protein when it is there. So it could have been any fish.

true true! dead or sick fish are often easy prey or easy snacks. i've seen some of my extremely sick dying fish nearly eaten alive by other fish:screwy:
